About the project
The COVID-19 pandemic has sped up digital transformation in the education and training sectors, with a significant increase in e-learning and/or m-learning activities. In line with the goals of the PNRR (the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan), this project focuses on the role of online/remote learning activities in the current and post-pandemic scenario. It also deals with how this transformation may impact the worldwide education market, specifically in ESP (English for Specific Purposes) language teaching and learning, as well as in training and professional development, with a focus on Augmented Reality (AR).
The project, profoundly interdisciplinary by nature, lies at the intersection of linguistics, psychology, IT engineering, computer programming and experimental pedagogy. Considering the unexpected challenges posed by the pandemic, this project focuses on the potentialities of AR in ESP and will result in the development of an XR App for the enhancement of ESP language skills, computational thinking and 21st-century skills. This learning app will be a multifaceted global hub that serves as a virtual classroom gathering teachers, learners, and professionals from all over the world.
